In 2014, I met an inspiring man called Brother Al. Al started a very special community of homes for adults who are living with mental illness called Emmaus Community.
I made a short film for Emmaus Community and always knew there was a bigger story there.
In 2017, I’ve started a new documentary about Al’s journey to create Emmaus Community – from singer and actor living in LA in the 1980s to Night Manager at the then 500-bed homeless men’s shelter in Sydney’s Kings Cross, the Matthew Talbot Hostel through to creating the amazing place that is Emmaus Community in Perth.
This documentary is being planned with broadcast and film festival distribution in mind.
I’m currently looking to raise post production funds and tax deductible donations are available via the Documentary Australia Foundation website. Please contact me for more information if you’d like to get involved!
